Deep, relational discipleship

We help people to holistically become more like Jesus by growing in deeper intimacy with Him through everything from spiritual disciplines to healing prayer, counseling to outreach. We grow by making SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant & time-bound) to actively cooperate with God in our growth and healing, knowing that it’s the power of the Holy Spirit that transforms us from the inside out. We champion others in their growth through affirmation, encouragement, blessing others’ true selves, celebrating their victories and believing in them even when they fail. We do this because honest, loving community is the place where transformation into Christlikeness happens.

  1. Vulnerable relationships: We cultivate vulnerable relationships through modeling honest sharing about our deepest hopes & hurts, caring deeply for each other, asking open-ended questions, listening well and being slow to give advice. We share our hearts and lives with each other. Rich Villas points out that while “we are wounded in community, [we are also] healed in community.”

  2. Trustworthiness: Trustworthiness and integrity are essential to keeping vulnerable relationships safe and maintaining a deeply loving community. We love selflessly and listen intently, asking curious questions and committing to being non-judgmental, honoring others for where they are at—with all their feelings, emotions, experiences and perspectives. We are slow to give advice. We honor confidences, and we do what we say we will do. We do not gossip or slander. We work out disagreements and hurts directly, with the prayerful hope of reconciliation.
